Cost per mile comparison- Polaris RMK700 vs. Yamaha Nytro MTX
Polaris:
Cost to fill tank with premium@ $3.40 per gallon-$39.10
Cost of 1qt injector oil to go with tank of gas-$7.00
Range @est. 10mpg-115mi
Price per mile-$.40

Yamaha
Cost to fill tank with regular@ $3.20 per gallon-$23.68
Range @est. 13mpg-97.5mi
Price per mile-$.24

Savings over a 1500 mile season-$240
That would pay for a trip a few hours from home! Pretty sweet I think!

How often do you change the crankcase oil in your Yammy? That needs to be factored to make an accurate comparasion. The two stroke with pre-mix is the equivalent of the crankcase oil.

This is a factor, your right, the oil needs changed every season or 2000 miles so you can subtract 3qt@4.50 per qt for yamalube 4-S. That is $13.50 per year for oil. I guess you will have to order the steak insted of the lobster on you trip out of town! LOL

Nice comparison... but you forgot a few other very important numbers.

Polaris 700 RMK 155 MSRP - $9,199
Yamhaa Nytro Apex MTX MSRP - $11,399

Difference: $2,200

Oh that right... Yamaha's last forever so you'll hit the break even mark in just a little over 9 years!

A Nytro MTX without reverse is 10,300USD. A difference of $1100 not $2200. I am not figuring in this difference since you will most likely get it back on resale.

I WISH that's all it costs!!!

I just changed my oil tonight for the first time. Holds 3.38 quarts, so you need to by 4 quarts at $7.79/ea. Oil filter was $15.95. Grand total with tax: $50.17!!

Yeah...I think I got screwed too!! WOW!!

0W-30 Yamaha Semi synth. at my local dealer is $13.00/liter!!! You didn't get screwed as bad as you think. This same oil is $6.00 at U Motors in Fargo. NAPA Gold 1358 (apparently is better than the factory filter) is ~$6.00

If you paid that much for yamalube 4-S I hope the dealer used some when he bent you over!LOL J\K, and you dont have to change the filter again till 12000 miles so that is really a one time expense.

So why is it that you are still riding a 2-stroke? You didn't have to compare it to a Poo, should have just used your's. :) And factor in the $5k you dumped in it to make it keep up with a Poo 700.

What about the cost of buying all you buddies beer for helping you get unstuck and breaking trail up the hills for you?? :D
Just kidding ...sort of. I had a Apex and I don't think there is a better sled made, just 150lbs too heavy. I like the direction they are going, but they have a long ways to go for the type of riding I enjoy..and my old back just can't handle the strain!
