I rode one 2 days ago after riding my 11 etec for the 4 days before it as well as my brothers stock 154 XMX. It Rips! Now i wouldn't go blow every last penny you have on it cause it's not crazy or anything, but if you have the money it is a noticable difference and it pulled real nice!

Trygstad 872 etec

Dave Trygstad has a great package for the etec. Other guys are still trying to figure out how to fuel a big bore. Trygstad has It figured out. Motor is an easy five to six lengths quicker than stock on the flats, but point it up hill it's unstoppable. We have two in our group and been around several others. Clutched correctly they are flawless.

Love my Trygstad 872 on my 2013 xm. I unload at 2,000 ft and never hit the DET sensor, runs flawless. Honestly pull the cord and go!!!

I have an 860 working really really well on my xm. The throttle response is sick and overall power is greatly increased from stock. 3 bounces of the throttle and its in a balance point wheelie down the road. It's a very fun engine.

The Trigger 872 is a solid engine as well. 2 things pushed me to do my own thing. 1) having to run the boat anchor stock can sucks. My 860 uses a lightweight can 2) I don't like SPI pistons and the 872 uses a .5 over cat m8 piston built by SPI

Bottom line is a well done big bore on the xm is a riot to ride!

I don't go the night and day difference between a trigger 860 ptec and a trigger 872 etec. I had a perfectly tuned trig 860 in our group and it was a very impressive snowmobile. Now that same guy has an xm with a trig 872. Again, very well setup with a team tied setup by Jason at team. In his (guy who has both sleds) own word the 872 is at least as good as the carb 860 if not a bit better.

The 872 is a great engine, but night and day better than the same builders 860? Has not shown up in our testing.

I read these forums and watch people try to hijack competitors threads as a way to combat their insecurities.... Reminds me of a couple sayings my dad taught me years ago:

1. Some will lead, others will follow, as skeptics
2. There are givers and takers in this world.

At the end of the day, when talking SkiDoo engine development and performance, Dave Trygstad has and continues to give back to our sport more than any of the other engine builders combined.
