I'm excited to see what they roll out. a factory 4 with a Turbo and 500lbs...
Sign me up.

But I do love my M8 so...a lightweight chassis 2 with the same capabilities and 170 Hp= very tempting

But I refuse to be guinea pig tester

I would think about a 4 stroke if it was crate weight under 470lbs and could drop to 450lbs with minor mods, If not the 8, but I would rather take the new 425lbs DI 1000cc 187hp and real clutching. Just add a T and Kmod and it will be perfect

i would go for a turbo 4 stroke if it was around 475 or less. so light weight goodies and power adders look out yamaha. but the 800 di would be tempting too. put turbo on that and same power almost. will have to wait and see. getting harder every day

After seeing what has been done with the turbo AC setup I would bet they would have no problem selling a sub 470lb sled.

Add Boondocker Highjacker box and you would have a user friendly high HP plug and play mountain sled.

i have been thinking alot about this, if they put a 4 in a new chassis and it's even somewhat close to the M's weight i think it would be pretty handy to just put a highjacker box on and ride the sh#t out of it. what is the actual weight of the M and the Z1? i found something that said the 10 M8 was 560lbs ready to ride and the Z1 was 708lbs wet.

You guy's are unrealistic. If a new mountain 4stroke turbo was 550 crate weight it would be a huge undertaking. 4 strokes are heavy end or story.

Unfortunately, AC will be the LAST manufacturer to reveal their 2012 sleds since most others are releasing info in the next week. They better have something good up their sleeves!

you think

The whole reason for the new chassis is to put a four stroke in it. You know they have a 4 stroke motor plant right. They make there own 4 stroke engines already.

Bringing It Back To Minnesota

Arctic Cat Announces Plan to Begin Manufacturing Snowmobile Engines in Minnesota

Arctic Cat to begin manufacturing snowmobile engines in its St. Cloud facility after 2014 model year

MINNEAPOLIS, June 10, 2010 – Arctic Cat Inc. (NASDAQ: ACAT) today announced that it has entered into an agreement to transition its snowmobile engine manufacturing from Suzuki Motor Corporation. Arctic Cat will begin manufacturing some of its own snowmobile engines in St. Cloud, Minn., after the 2014 model year. Currently, Suzuki supplies all engines for Arctic Cat’s snowmobiles. Suzuki will continue to supply the company with engine parts to service existing engines after the 2014 model year.

Commented Arctic Cat’s chairman and chief executive officer Christopher A. Twomey: “Suzuki has been an outstanding engine supply partner for more than 25 years and remains a significant shareholder in Arctic Cat. However, we are changing our engine strategy in order to gain more control over our products, and enhance our ability to meet regulatory and performance requirements. This also will enable us to better utilize our current engine manufacturing capacity, resulting in potentially better costs.”

Twomey added: “Our St. Cloud engine facility has been a great addition for the company since we began manufacturing our ATV engines there in 2007.”

The 56,000-square- foot plant is located on 15 acres and currently employs 41 people. At this time, the company plans to use existing plant capacity and personnel during the transition. Arctic Cat expects snowmobile engine production to begin in St. Cloud in fiscal 2015.

they cant afford not to get the di on there motors until then. everone will jump ship and they will go down hill more even with a new chassis.

if they come out with both a 800 di motor in new cahssis and a 4 stroke in the lower 500 lb range it would be hard for me to decide what to get.
