Snowmobile Lifting

Why cant I lift me snowmbile, thats how they are doing it these days on the new ones, I dont like how low my 1995 Powder Special sits, its annoying. I want to install brackets on the tunnel where my track can attach to and make it sit, 6 to 8 inches higher. Why cant I do that, I have had mutliple people tell me that it wouldnt work. Any hints, info, or helpful tips? Thanks.

Also, i know that this sled is only a '95 PS 580, but I have taken off everything that isnt nesscary for it to have, I have taken off the seat, gauge cluster, all wiring that was not needed for making it run, and I have installed a ripsaw track, what else can I do to make this sled a higher perfomer for powder snow, and that wont break the wallet? Any mods? Engine boring? I have found out that it is impossibl to get an after market exhaust for this year/mode. Thanks
