Looking for some fox floats for my 08 nytro mtx, and was wondering what length shocks I can use in the front. Can I go any longer than the stock ones? Thanks

My stockers on 08 MTX were 17.5" and I replaced them with 17.5" Floats.....not sure on longer front end might sit too high.....possibly slightly shorter if the stroke remains the same.

For a more stable ride and better over all handling we go with the 16.5" Apex Wide frond end ( short track) shocks. Most guys run low shock pressure to get the frond end lower for a better handling sled we use shorter shocks .

i dont like the way the 09 and 10 nytros look with the shorter shocks....sits way too low. I would stick with the 17.5"

floats sit higher at the same length. the reason for this is by the time you get the pressure up to prevent bottoming there is less sag. i run 17" float 2's and would even like to try 16.5", definately wouldn't go longer than 17.5"

Putting looks aside, I think the question is what works better. I have an M7 as well and no one can deny that they work well. Funny thing is that they sit as low as a short shock MTX in the front. Putting the longer shocks on the Nytro raises the front end by at least 1.5 inches. Goes from 8 to about 9.5" belly pan clearance.

Last season I had 17" Float2s, and I liked the lower ride height alot. This season I have 16.75" Float evol X. It is more stable with the lower height and sofar im not going back to the stock height. Yamaha knew what they did when they lowered the height for 09...
