2871 vs 2860 clutching

Theoretically speaking......if both sleds were running 12lbs, would the clutching be the same? Or does the bigger/smaller turbo allow for more/less clutching?

In theory... bigger turbo, more air/cfm, more HP. I would think they would be real close though.

Theoretically speaking, whichever turbo was more efficient at 12psi for that given motor would make the most power. To figure that out you need to look at compressor maps and do some math. Just because the 71 is a bigger compressor doesn't mean it will make more power than a 60 in all applications.

I have riden both and It felt like the 2871 made more up top,, but would of been a good race,, the 60 felt more zippy though!! but could of been the clutching

I have had both on the same m7 and they were really close in clutching. As stated, the 71 should make a bit more if they are both in the middle of their efficiency range but I think at 12lbs the diff would be minute. At 16 it might be enough to add a few grams
