Hey guys my son picked up a 1996 Ultra RMK with SLP pipes. The book says I need a 21 tooth top and 35 bottom gear. That sounds wrong to me I have a 20/41 set up and now from the guy we got it from. Does anyone know what setup will give him some off the line hit. It boggs off the line now and I am tired of listening to him cry about it.:face-icon-small-hap
Thanks Ed

I ran 18/39 on mine and loved it. As for the bottome end bog, those ultra's xlt's were very very picky about haviing all 3 carbs in sync. Take the time to do it right or bite the bullet and take it to someone that knows how to. Huge difference on the way they idle, and run at slow speeds including holeshots.

I have stock 133.5 X 1.5" track and ran 21 X37 gearing. Sled was FFFast. Pretty sure stock gearing was 20X39, the gearing your talking about is lower like 2.10 to 1 and mine 1.76 to 1 ratio. It is not gearing. What track does it have and what weights are in primary clutch.

It's set up with 41/19 gears. Have any of guys gone right past the problem when it was the firt thing you should look at ??? The driven clutch spring was broke in half and that was the problem. Anyway replaced the spring and went up to Mammoth Mtn with 5 sleds for a week. Great time and the sled ran great.
Thanks for the help Ed

I dont think anyone on this forum can say they have found the problem right away, we all miss stuff, and sometimes its the common sense stuff like that...

glad its all running good and that, thanks for the update!
