Mine hangs just fine. Won't win a higharmk comp, but nothing will leave you behind. I've ran side by side with 8's in some DEEP snow.

I would agree with Randy, rode a 2010 at yamafest and it felt really good. probably won't keep up with a well setup 8 climbing, but is close. found boondocking with it, i liked it better than my xp. buy the 2010 and keep your eye open for a used or discounted turbo kit.

The Nytro is usually in the 600 class competitions, not the 800. Might not be what you're looking for.

The differences between the Nytro and the 800 gets a lot smaller when you get to the hills. I run with 1000sdi's, 800 revs, 800 dragons, and a bunch of other ones. Yah, they will highmark you, but I am rarely doing that type of riding.

My thinking was to drive it stock (yes, stock!) for a year or so, then try a little boost. I was hoping it will compete with the 800 class sleds. Sounds good so far.

Just to add another note. There are quite a few of us that have NO plans for boost. I don't have any need, but it depends upon your riding preferences and your riding group.

09 Stock nytro with a 162 CE had no problems keeping up with 700 dragons.
But would not hang with the 800 poo or doo.
With the 2010 it will be closer but still not quite there Highmarking of course.
You not going to get left behind.

2010 Nytro

I know you mentioned stock above, but in my opinion for $300.00 a Hartman clutch kit is a must. I picked up 15km/hr track speed climbing (08 Nytro). It was a world of difference.

I ride a 08 with the CE 162 and the full excell exhaust. To me the full exhaust make a big difference as I had to add a great deal of weight to keep the rev's down.

I can climb with some stock 8's, but the xp's cause me problems going high.

But all I ever do is add gas and go. The sled is bullet proof

One thing to note, is that most of us it seems, that run no boost have still modded the sleds. Front suspension, rear suspension, exhaust, track, clutching etc..

Some more then others, but they are NOT stock.

I had pretty much the same experience last year on my stock '08 Nytro. 800s would out highmark me but I could go everywhere else they could. I raced a SkiDoo 800 HO ('04 or '05 I think) on a flat, groomed road and I pulled away from him.

I'm hoping that skid/track/exhaust will help me with the highmarking this year, probably gonna do front suspension at some point this season too.

I'm really happy to read these results.

My wife and I are still in 2-smoke world, it was in the plans that the next sleds would be 4-strokers, but alas, I needed/wanted an upgrade before the $$ was available to put the Nytro on a diet, and add ponies. (I went D8)

I suspect she'll get another 2-smoker before we go 4-stroke.

I do enjoy dropping into this forum now and again and reading what is going on with the Yammies. Yamaha sure does have good product quality across all lines.

It's always nice when we like the sleds we have. ;)

I am kinda same situation. Sold my sled, want a Nytro, so does one by an 08 for say $9000 (Canada) or get a new one for $16000. Thoughts on that? Lotta stuff on the new ones but a price tag to boot.

For $7000 difference you can make an 08/09 better then an 2010. Skid $2500, Track$1000, Front shocks $1000, tunnel $2000, Relocator $200, Undertunnel Exhaust $300.

Comparing a NYtro to an 800 cc. Last year i rode a 2009 nytro i would compare it to a 700 or 600 for sure. to say that it would keep up or be able to ride with an 800 is a pipe dream. i for sure had the slowest sled in my riding group. All of this was ok because i now have a powderlites turbo on it and watch out.

This is all the stuff the 2010's have updated. Might as well spend the money for the 2010.Same price when you do the updates to an 08.
