Project D9

Well guys, since everyone is posting up their projects, figured I better get mine on here so everybody can laugh at me when I can't figure out how to put it all back together! This all started the same way that it has for most 900 owners out there... I went to the dealership and priced a new Dragon 800 RMK, which the average going rate was about $9500-$11000. Trade in value on the old 9 was about $3000-3500 on a good day. That leaves you a difference of over $6000. Imagine what you can do to a 900 for $6000? A facelift/nosejob (09 plastics conversion), Some time in the gym working on your arms (Chromoly A-Arms), Work out that back-end and junk-in-the-trunk syndrome (Tunnel/track/rear suspension), and maybe a little force air? Well my dad and I went rounds on this subject, but in the end, I decided to stick with the old 9 and treat her right, give her a little TLC, and see where the project took me! I would like to mention that I did buy the sled from Josh (Nelson) going on 2 years ago, and he has been a great help with everything, from tech support, to remembering dang near everything he did to the sled, to offering ideas on where to go with the project, so thank you Josh! I'm in the initial stage of teardown and now waiting on some parts to go back together. I suck at posting up pics and am often too lazy to do so, so bear with me. Enjoy! PS. Any input or ideas is greatly appreciated!:beer;

Oh, and incase anyone was wondering, yes, that is a dirtbike seat!:D It is just chillin there while I ponder on it. lol I am going to attempt to build a chromoly tube frame around the seat. The advantage of the dirtbike seat- believe me or not, is first the obvious weight factor, way lighter. Where we ride, you rarely if ever sit down, Its shorter and easier to kick your feet around the back side, and it feels like your sitting on a dirtbike, where I feel at home. Let me know what you think!

Maybe not that high, but I want it to be pretty high. After all, I am 6' 5", so thats also why the bars almost touch the roof lol.

Just to add in so everybody knows this is what I am doing this go around:

Compfusion mounts
FBF throttle/oil cable
Walker Evans shocks
Gripper Skis
09 Plastics
Fabcraft A-Arms
Custom Dirt Bike Seat
Anti-rachet Drivers
New Track
Cobe Front Bumper

Down the road when the bank account permits:

Custom or VanAmburg Tunnel
09 Console plastics sooner or later
FTX Carbon Fiber IQR/RMK Hybrid Hood
FTX Carbon Fiber vented side panels
CMX Belt Drive
Turbo...
yada yada yada:rolleyes:

Looks like a good start to yet another great looking/running 900 thats a good shopping list. What are you doing to the inside of the motor any goodie's there.:D Just a heads up on the anti-drivers after they are on the tips of the rails will hit so you will need to cut 1 1/2inoff rails' put a anti-stab kit on, & grind the plastic on the tips of the rail back about 3/8-1/2in. to keep them from hitting on drivers. (learned this today)
good luck with build.

Ok so this thing turned into a bit more of a project and money pit than I expected it to do this year. Ended up having to do a late season rebuild, went with the 32mm crank and new pistons. However, now it runs better than ever before! There is nowhere that this thing can't climb... I just run out of guts before it runs out of power! Finally got some vents on it!
