Yes 21/41 ratio.
works better for me.
For point and shoot and hillclimbing on harder surface even higher
22-39 ratio.
cantget it to run 100mph on stock gearing:D

gearing and belt life

How is belt life on these turbo machines? I have had problems for 3 years running. I will be very diligant on aligning the clutches and replaced front left motor mount (2nd time) and torque stop (both worn badly) and add second to front right side. I would like to run the 1022 belt...

i've never blown a belt yet... had the chord come out of a couple but they just become back up belts for the g/f's sled at that point

Jeremy, what is stock gearing on the 2009 Dragon? Would you recommend gearing up even for someone who is using the sled primarily for boondocking? Also, did you run the prototype BD EBC (Push to Pass) system last spring? If yes, how did it work? Can you respond to my e-mail address at brucerobert@stanleygroup.com? Thanks.

the stock gearing on the 2009 is 20/41, i would recommend gearing up on all turbo sleds to at least 21/41, my favorite kind of riding is tight tree boondocking and thats what we do 90% of the time, and gearing up helped out a lot for boondocking, tight tree riding you genereally have two speeds no throttle or full throttle and every little bit helps

I burned one belt last year on my BD700T, but that was it. The snow that day was really heavy and it was pretty much my fault. I was surprised at how well mine did. I ride with Drape who has the same sled and I don't remember him replacing a belt either.

Hey guys,
The turbo d8 i bought has 19-39 gears on it, I also have a 20 and 41. With the gears I have what would be the best combo. I don't really understand the reason the guy put on the 19-39 gears on, it's the same ratio as the stock 20-41, both 2.05. If I put the 20-39 on that would get me a ratio of 1.95. Anyone have any helpful info on this?

Thanks

does anyone actually know if this theory would apply to us guys with large tracks? i think this would cause too much belt heat possably with the 174 track. i have mine geared at 20=41 with 7 t 3 pitch so we will see how it goes.

chain case gearing

First we went down a tooth to a 19 on the top drive gear. The dealer suggested that to help with belt life and throttle response. Then after getting some help tuning our turboed sleds from a guy that builds custom turboed sleds in Kelowna. He suggested going one tooth bigger to a 42 on the bottom driven gear. To take the slack out of the chain. He then suggested getting ride of the oem plastic chain tensioner and putting an older roller type adjuster in its place. We did what he suggested and it works good. Pulls hard but I guess we lost alittle top speed. It goes plenty fast enough for me and it hasn't blown up yet after two years.
