Does anyone have both these trucks? or traded their 6.0 in on the 09 6.2?

Looking for a little feed back on which one preforms better. Im leaning to the 6.2 with the 6 speed, in a 1500 frame. :D

I dont want to hear about dodge, toyota, or nissan. I have driven the 09 ford and if the price is right i might go that way, but i really like the chevy/gmc...

The 6.2 runs hard, biggest thing is the six speed tranny though. Really takes advantage of the motor. I've driven both 6.0's with 4 speeds and 6.2's with 6 speeds. The 6.2 felt more like my 8.1 with an allison, actually it felt quicker, but i don't think it would tow quite as good as the 8.1. 8.1 one makes like 450lb/ft torque or something. 6.2 should get way better milage than the 8.1 one though. Just my .02!

My dads on his second Denali 6.2L and loves them. It has a lot more pulling power then the 6.0Ls I've road in and drove. Also he averages between 16 and 18 mpg real world driving 65-80mph.

new 6.2's are awesome motors, all aluminum and well tuned from the factory.

there again the latest 6.0's are great engines as well. and you can now get a 6spd with the 6.0 i believe.

not a huge power difference and with both having the 6spd its sort of a crap shoot.

does the 6.2 require premium fuel??

also 6.2 should definitely be faster than an 8.1

No it doesn't require premium fuel but there is still no comparison between the 6.0L and the 6.2L there is 40hp and 40ft lbs between the 6.0L and 6.2L.

Thanks for the feedback guys!

I was looking at some 08 sierra denalis with the 6.2 but not a big fan of the AWD all the time.

Guess I will sit and wait till they come out with good deals on the 09 trucks!

The full time AWD is worth the 1 MPG fuel penalty. Got my first GM AWD truck (Silverado SS) in 2003 and now on number 2 with the Denali.

The only reason I'd ever go back to a 2HI-4HI-4LO version is if they didn't build the AWD t-case anymore.

From what i see at the dealership i would say the 6.2 is a much better motor. the six speed make most of the difference. if i was going to buy one i would take a sierra crew 1/2 ton with a 6.2 and a six speed. i believe in 09 you can get selectable 2wd 4hi 4lo. these sierras are over 400 horse, and the six speed is fast! being a mechanic, i dont think i would ever own a 6.0. they seem under powered. the mileage is terrible. Personal opinion: just by a duramax and get it over with! just my .02

doesn't matter, you can't completely turn off the traction control. It says traction control is off and stable track is off but when you take off it doesn't allow you to spin your tires, and if you do get them spinning the traction control will kick in when you have them spinning hard. I really dont care much about spinning my tires off but i care about flooring it and it dogging out till 20mph.........i want instant now power like 300-400hp should have.

Its bull but get the 6.2 with the 6 speed for 09 in a slt or lbz so you can have 2wd/awd/4wd all in one, the denali is only awd or only 2wd.

My understanding was if you take the traction control off your locking in fulltime 4hi.
