Smaller Is Better

Polaris Pro RMK 600

January 2020 Feature Steve Janes

Narrow Body

Polaris has also designed all the Pro-RMKs with compact body panel geometry that is designed to allow the track and suspension to work in deep snow without fighting against side drag, even when you’re laying your sled on the edge to hold a steep sidehill. The height of the AXYS chassis allows for increased clearance and reduced drag in deep snow. This is due to a lightweight aluminum over-structure and taller spindles.

So what you end up with is the Gripper skis and Series 5.1 track are the primary contact points of the Pro-RMK with the snow. And the Gripper skis are perhaps the best stock ski on the snow today.

Strong Suspension

The secondary contact features are the front and rear suspension. The AXYS RMK React front suspension features Walker Evans Monotube shocks. This provides a smooth secure ride across hardpack trails while being soft enough to offer lift in deep snow. Ski stance can be adjusted between 36 to 38 inches.

The Pro-RMK React Rear Suspension also features Walker Evans Monotube shocks and is designed to maintain the Polaris rigid ride—this means that the entire sled works as a unit with no flex (totally contrary to the ride of Ski-Doo and Arctic Cat mountain sleds). Everything is consistent and predictable. You just need to find your “edges” to your leans. Once you have a feel for the edges, you understand exactly how much rider input to insert according to the intensity of the terrain.

Finally, the Pro-RMK 600 features the PowderTrac Running Boards that are designed to provide maximum traction for your feet along with maximum snow cleanout while maintaining structural strength and rigidity. For 2020 there is actually more open space at the back of the boards by the rear pad to reduce snow buildup.

Final Thoughts

All of the best features of the top-of-the-line Snowcheck models are available for the Pro-RMK 600. You don’t have to cut any corners or make any compromises. You can have all the bells and whistles with a 600cc engine which historically offers longer life to your snowmobile.

You don’t have to go to the biggest and baddest to be the best. The Pro-RMK 600 lets you stand out above the crowd without breaking the bank or being overwhelmed by horsepower.
