New style and Ascender platform
According to Arctic Cat, the new 2018 plastics are meant to improve cool air intake and hot air exhaust from under the hood, keeping the sleds running at optimum performance. Much of the hot air is exhausted through the footwells, and when the sled is idling, more hot air can be released through the top of the hood. The headlight cowl is the same, but basically all the other plastics are different. The M sled panels are meant for mountain riding and 80mm narrower than the previous design.

The new Ascender platform is the culmination of years of Cat improvements to the old ProClimb chassis, and it including a drop case mountain drive system, a narrowed chassis, mountain front suspension, a 3-inch lug Powerclaw track and much more.

For both the trail and mountain folks, new access panels have much better fit and finish, and they easily click and lock securely into place with just the turn of a tab.
