Idaho Snowmobile Show Is This Weekend

News

Most people grumble when the weather turns a little sour. They don't like it when it's cloudy, rainy or snowy. They hate the cold. Weathermen kind of lead the way when it comes to talking negative about the very weather we snowmobilers pretty much look forward to.

So when most folks see the weather forecast for this weekend in Boise, ID, and see rain and daytime temps in the 40s and 50s they get a little glum. Therein lies the difference between them and we snowmobilers. We know that rain in the valley usually means snow in the mountains.

We say, "Bring it on."

Many fair weather people will stay indoors this weekend but not snowmobilers. They know where to go: the Idaho Snowmobile Show at Expo Idaho in Boise.

Sponsored by SnoWest Magazine (http://www.snowest.com/index.cfm), the Idaho State Snowmobile Association (http://www.idahosnow.org/) and Allstate Insurance (http://www.allstate.com/), the Idaho Snowmobile Show begins Friday (Nov. 16) and runs through Saturday (Nov. 17).

Show hours on Friday are from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. General admission is $8 and $7 for senior citizens/military and children under 12 are free once again. You can save a few greenbacks by buying your tickets in advance online. Go here to buy online: http://www.hpmags.com/Products/snowest-idaho-snowmobile-show-2012.aspx

Everything snowmobiling will congregate at Expo Idaho (http://www.expoidaho.com/index.php/about/directions) this weekend as three of the four major snowmobile manufacturers will be on hand to show off their latest 2013 model year sleds. The manufacturers might even bring an ATV or side-by-side along for those of you dual sport riders.

Got a sled but want it to go faster or look a little snappier? There will be plenty of aftermarket companies offering a variety of products for your sled and your person (yea, it's probably time to get rid of that old leather snowmobile suit and upgrade). There will also be trailer dealers at the show this year to show off their latest trailers. Of course, with all that money rolling down the road and then into the backcountry, you'll want to make sure you have the right protection so stop by the Allstate booth to talk about the coverage you need.

What else is in store at the Idaho Snowmobile Show?

Lunch On Arctic Cat

Arctic Cat is once again going to sponsor a big lunch at this year's Idaho Snowmobile Show. Cat will provide lunch for 200 show attendees on Saturday at 1 p.m. All you have to do is stop by the Arctic Cat booth and pick up your free ticket for the lunch.

Annual Swap Meet Goes Big

The annual swap meet, brought to you by the Cougar Mountain Club at the Idaho Snowmobile Show, has some pretty big news for this year. This year the swap meet will be inside the north building at Expo Idaho and will be both days of the snowmobile show.

Those who want to sell at the swap meet will still be able to work out of your trailers. You will bring them in the building is the only difference.

This event is designed to bring snowmobile enthusiasts together for an opportunity to buy, sell and trade snowmobile parts, sleds, memorabilia and just about anything snowmobile-related.

The swap meet is open to private individuals or dealers with used snowmobiles or used parts for sale. There can be no current year products in the swap meet area.

Swap space for those that wish to set up and sell items is available on a first come first serve basis and costs $35 for a 2-place trailer (two tickets to event included) and $50 for a 4-place trailer (four tickets to event included). For $25, you can bring a sled to sell or if you have multiple sleds add $13 per each additional sled. If you would like to bring items to sell without a trailer, you can purchase a 10x10 area for $25. That will included two tickets to the show. You will need to be your own table.

Show & Shine

Western Power Sports and Ultimax Belts are once again the sponsors for the Show & Shine, which is your opportunity to show off your sled and win big prizes. There are two classes: show & shine and mods.

There will be two winners in each division with WPS and Ultimax Belts awarding $2,000 in prizes. Those prizes range from gift certificates for $425 to $200 worth of merchandise.

Not a bad deal considering it only costs $10 to enter.

Prizes, Prizes and More Prizes

Not only will there be hourly drawings on both days of the Idaho Snowmobile Show, there will be a grand prize winner each day as well. The prizes total more than $3,000. We're talking some nice stuff, like an ABS Avalanche Bag, four tickets to the Boise State football game on Saturday (thanks to Allstate Insurance), a Cardo Systems Scala Rider, a parka, boots and goggles from Klim, clothing from MotorFist and lots more. A complete list can be found here: http://www.intermountainshow.com/show/prizes.cfm?showid=2.

Watch The Boise State Football Game On The Big Screen

If you just can't seem to tear yourself away from watching the football game, well we've got a solution: watch it at the snowmobile show. Thanks to MotorFist, you'll be able to watch the game on a big TV. MotorFist is also sponsoring the video viewing area.

Seminars

Klim is sponsoring the snowmobile show seminars this year and we have quite a lineup. Topics covered will include everything from avalanche safety and survival to choosing the best goggles and lenses, installing sled wraps, how to ride, improving clutch performance and more. The complete list and schedule is here: http://www.intermountainshow.com/show/seminars.cfm?showid=2.

SnoWest Project Sled

We will also be working on our newest project sled, an Arctic Cat ProClimb M 800. You can watch as our crew of experts help Ryan Harris turn this stocker into a lightweight mountain buster.

Finally, when you stop by the SnoWest booth to renew your subscription to our magazine, make sure you get your name entered into our latest contest, the 12 Days of SnoWest. This prize package is the biggest we've ever put together and again includes a new Ski-Doo snowmobile.
