The Adirondacks region contains the largest overall trail system for snowmobiling in NY State. Covering 10 counties, the trail system sits as high as Canada, as far east as Vermont and down through to Tug Hill, Old Forge and even the Lake George area. The trails are quite diverse ranging from groomed trials, lakes, forest riding and mountainous trails. The old Adirondack railroad bed is a fully groomed trail (snow permitting) that can be accessed in the Old Forge/Inlet area and can be taken as far north as you choose to venture. Just a few of the scenic stops along the way are Tupper Lake, Saranac Lake and Lake Placid, home of 1932 and 1980 winter Olympic Games. Like Tug hill, there are countless towns throughout the region situated directly on the trail system that you can start riding from. There is plenty of lodging available all catering to Snowmobilers.

The overall trail system in the Adirondacks is growing at an incredible rate with over 1000 miles of new trails opening this year alone. Because of this, trail maps are a must. Trail permits are not required unless you venture into the Old Forge region. NY State registrations are required for all snowmobilers.
