I had one burn out last season. Went to the local auto parts store and replaced it with the most expensive silver star they had (was all they had in that mounting configuration) You can literally see the difference sitting in it in the dark on with the high beams on.

One side has a much clearer crisp white light than the other side. Also projects a few feet farther

Whats the bulb #?? I've used Osram Nghtbreaker in previous
sleds and they are great!

There are issues when upgrading the wattage by almost double.

1) Heat... at the bulb connector and in the housing.
I've seen melting connectors and distorted light housings.

2) Current draw through the wires and switches that power the headlight is almost doubled.


A higher QUALITY bulb with different light character and the same wattage would probably help... simply doubling the wattage could cause you more grief than it's worth.

Also... There are some high output LED bulbs from Cyclops that require a rectifier setup that are a lot brighter.
