Broken steering post base

I have a 2009 M1000, the plate that the steering post stop rivets to looks to have broken, and maybe even cracked either the bulkhead or tunnel.

Does anyone sell a beefier plate or some kind of fix for this issue?

Will it have to be welded, and will the motor have to be pulled?

Thanks

Wildchild (canadasledparts.com) and MMsports on here both make a plate to fix exactly that, also modrods has a monster plate that fixes that, and also firms up the steering hoop. The first two can easily be done with motor in, I'd THINK the modrods one as well, but never done one, so can't be sure.

Pretty cheap & easy fix though, no big deal.

Hey, how about the motor thing?

I'm assuming you can install this without pulling motor on the 8 ( or I guess I should say without pulling the head which is the most I can see needing to remove)? What about the 1000?

No need to pull the head just the seat, tank and steering post and loosen the steering hoop. some find it easyier to pull the front coil bolts so they twist to the side for a little more room getting it under the head.

I installed the M-Rite to fix my problem

Well, after looking at a few different options I chose the M-Rite, and I think I made the right decision.

I'd like to thank ModRods for making such a great product, The directions were clear and concise, (bigger pictures, and some parts diagram type illustrations would have improved them but all in all much better than satisfactory) It was packaged well, and I think it adds strength to a part of the m that has a known weakness.

If you do this to your sled I recommend paying extra attention to how the wires and cables are routed as you tear it down. I am no mechanic by any means but the install was very straight forward and not difficult at all.

I've attached a before and after picture

Thanks again ModRods
