C3 post forward on 11 etec

Here are some pics of the post forward kit from C3. It moves the steering post forward 3". The job is pretty straightforward but took awhile as there were no instructions. Once you figure how and what to do it goes pretty easy. I have a RSI 10" riser and ended up ordering a longer brake line from RSI. C3 said it would be ok but I thought it was bit tight. After the brackets were installed I heated the airbox up and set it in place, then put pressure on it to indent where it hit the post from moving it forward(not much at alll)Then I lined my riser up with the post and still had good height when standing. I haven't been on snow yet but sitting/standing it feels like a different sled. I think it's a must doo for 11-12 XP's and I'm considering it on my 09. The steering post has to be replaced on the earlier sleds but I imagine it would make them steer WAY beter than stock as they didn't have the feel of the 11/12's with straighter post.

I like the way that looks. Make sure and give us a ride report. How long did it take to install?

I did it in an evening. I'm never in a hurry on projects as my shop is my safe haven!:) With instructions or if you knew what to do it could be done I'n an hour or so. They said they will get some instructions out with kits when they get time.

I have the post forward kit on my '10. You won't believe how easy that sled is to steer and how well it will handle now. Absolutely no arm or shoulder fatigue at the end of the day. This is how they should have been built to begin with.

Just installed last night in the 860. Shop floor riding, I think the turbo sled needs one also.

How much did you trim the plastic blocks. We are getting a little binding, but it does seem to be getting better the more it gets ridden in the garage!

If I'm reading these posts correctly, on the 08/09 XP's you also need to change out the steering post to go with the C3 relocation bracket, correct?
If this is correct, what kind of prices are you looking at?
Thanks

Correct on the steering post. I put in the Freeride post. 08/09 hit the crossmember between the shocks. Newer posts do not have as big of curve. Post was around 165 w/ shipping. Bracket is around 100 if I rember correctly.

I installed the straight chromoly steering post from C3. Much stronger. The stock '10 steering posts (non-XRS) don't fit either.

you need the brackets, and the chromoly steering post. C3 sells both. http://www.c3powersports.com/content/xp-post-forward-kit I did this kit on my 08, takes alot of trimming and adjusting to get it installed with all the plastics fitting perfect and looking clean, but WELL worth the hassle.

heres a few pics of mine after the install

Just ordered a couple yesterday. Person I talked to at C3 said to heat up the airbox where it hits with a heat gun and just "mold" the airbox around the steering post. Pretty matter of fact about it.

Heat

The airbox takes quite a bit of heat before it decides to remold itself. Mine didn't need much coercing to fit, if you don't call standing on the bumper and a knee on the box much:) only two spots to remold. I was going to use propane but they said it would catch fire----- I'd try it, would soften up alot faster than a hi-temp heat gun. Not sure of blocks your talking of, mine fits good although I haven't put all plastics back on yet. No snow FredW, got the KING I'n last night, try to get out this weekend.

By doing this steering post modification, will it get rid of the handlebar arc and put the handlebars more flat say like Polaris or Cat?

When I get out to shop later I'll take pics of the post, I still have my airbox, plastic off. I'm not familiar with the Polaris post but yes it straightens it alot.

The arc is gone, post in line with riser/bars. As they said you could put a straight post in. The best way to show how much it did was to compare my 11 to my 09 and look at the distance from the gas cap.

Been toying with the idea of adding this to my 2012 Summit X. Some guys say that it's a bugger and things don't fit well in the end. How long did it take you to do yours? Hours, days??? I realize that you needed to replace your post, but even on the 11's and 12's, doesn't the post need to be removed and reinstalled in the forward position?
Seems like if this mod is so much better than stock, it would have actually been easier to design this into the production XP chassis (not just the RS's).
