827 ZX Clutching help needed!!!

I tried posting this in the General section with NO help so I thought that I would try my luck in here thinking that my fellow DOO guys would be able to help me out... here is the situation:

Trying to figure out some clutching on 2- 2003 Summit 800 HO 151" sleds...

Both sleds are pretty much identical except that one of them has a non-ported 827 kit. The other is a brand new crate engine. Both have Team secondaries with the same helix and spring. I don't know about the primary set up but assume that they are the same or not too different... one may have a purple/purple and the other is stock (whatever that is). The stocker is running slightly lower gears (19/45 and the 827 is running 19/43)

In a drag up a steep and deep powder hill, the 827 blows the stocker off the line. Towards the top, the 800 gains on him and passes him (highmarks).

I was told by many people that a well tuned 827 would KILL a stocker 800 and would challenge some of the new chassis sleds... this isn't the case.

Any suggestions how to make the 827 continue on with the speed that it gets off the line?

PLEASE HELP!!!

What RPM are each motors turning? What pin weight, etc? You need to figure out the exact setups of each sled, then come back and detail that stuff out.

827 is totally stock primary ( Sorry, I don't know what the stock pin weight is... anyone help) and is running at 8500 rpm (I think it is slightly too high and timing may be retarded...) on clicker 6. The 800 dropped all of the pin weight and is running 8000-8100 on clicker 1.

My suggestion was to drop the 827 to around 8200-8300 rpm. take out weight and drop the clicker to about 3 (heard some where that the clutches work better in position 3 versus 6... any truth to that???) and drop the gearing to 19/44...

Does that help?

Is the 827 running the stock pipe? If so, it should be running about 8,000rpm. Just click down to drop RPM for now.

If it was running the stock pipe it would be 8000ish. Try clicking down, sounds like it's not loading the engine on clicker 6. Lower clicker #'s will shift better on top-end as long as it's still making the correct RPM.

Have you got your jetting dialed in yet. You should get this addressed first then start on the clutch. That's what I found on my 06 827. Hope this helps:beer;

We are running 430 jets and the DPM is still hooked up... We didn't want to go too lean... this is on a 2003... what are you running on your 06??? I don't want to go too much leaner than this... maybe 1 size?!?!?!

First things first JETTING! Make sure you got it close. From the information you just gave,, my opinion is that you need to load the engine. Drop your clickers to three or four for now. Next install the purple/purple primary spring, then add weight to sustain the right rpm. I have an 827 in an 01 zx and the way it is set-up it will run neck and neck with the xp's. Kelsey's motor make tons of power and once there set-up, look-out! FAST
