What all would you have to do to switch a 2012 ecu to a 2013 ecu. I have my stock ecu off my sled and a friend has a 13. Wondering of we can put the 13 ecu on the 12 and if so is it just plug it in or do you have to change out other things.

Wasn't the mapping on the 2013 better that the 12?

Not sure if it's just unplug swap ecu and plug back in, but Jim at DTR. Has a right up and test of the same sled with 11.12.13.14 . Ecu in the same sled. If you are a member at dtr, it shows the air fuel ratio,hp, etc. Of all the years. You could call there and see if it's a direct swap.

11-12 use a different ECU part number than MY 13-14-15. I would need to look at the wiring diagram to see if there was a change in pin placement. But I do believe that is the case.

If you are going for performance then I would say no not worth it. Why not just buy a fuel controller or vipec for the performance. Do you have a ECM that needs replaced? Are you trying to put a 13 ECM on it cause its free or just to diagnose an ECM problem? Maybe you have access to a 13 wire harness and injectors I don't know, so I guess I'm not sure that I can answer the question as good as you can.

I replaced the stock 13 ecu on my sled with a vipec when I put my 910 in. I just have my 13 ecu sitting in a shelf and I had heard that the mapping was better than the 12's mapping. My buddy has a 12 and I was going to let me try the ecu in his sled if it was a plug in a go thing. I don't think he really wants to do injectors and a wire harness though

There is more to it then just fuel mapping. Polaris change the electronics and software from 12- 13. There is a pretty big gain on the snappyness from 12 ti 13 electronics, talking with Carl's cycle, they say there is a lot of things that would need to be changed including I believe stator. They have not ever changed one over but they told me the list if things needed to make it work is very long.
You will not get a 12 to be as snappy as a 13 without changingall
