How do you think the 174 would maneuver in the trees? Difficult choice between the two... Which would you choose and why?

That attack angle is scary. I think either aren't going to float as well as the X. Keep in mind you can easily ride the 163 in deep snow, but the 174 will be a beast in settled snow.

I would choose 163, it would be plenty of traction for most conditions. That 174 would be insane though and good for bragging rights too

If your used to riding the 163 already, i bet the 174 wont feel much different, Until your your lifting it out of the hole you just dug.:face-icon-small-win

I worry about set up/spring/firm snow on the 174... Seems like we will now have the same discussion of 174 vs 163 that we had frequently about 163 vs 154!

This is a old discussion---we had it way back when the 136 came out---then the 144---then a 156---and then the 163:face-icon-small-hap

I am in---it is not a challenge now in spring snow with the 163--if it is that much of a issue for me come spring time--I will get a short track mxz.

As for me--I have already snowchecked mine!

Anyone else notice that it's not simply a rail change between the 174 and 163? Mount position of the skid is different between the two as well.

I'm torn. I think I'll go 174 but I do think the 163 is probably the better all around package. I think the 74 will jump and hop through the trees fine, I'm more worried about it being so planted that its not really fun.

As long as it's a factory option, no brainer, go 174!!! As mentioned, it's been discussed to death with previous offers and no one ever regrets going long. Think how cool you'll look!! It's only 4.5" longer not much difference. However the 163 T3 will be a beast also. The approach angle does look a little steeper on the T3 but it also has more suspension below the running boards. This sled will kill everything else.

The angle of attack is scary! And the seven tooth driver is also kinda a let down beings they drop and rolled the chaincase.

I want that 174 real bad but I'm worried the 3in track would suck for access trails and anything not chest deep. A 174 with a 2.25 or 2.5 lug I could be all over it!

I've been riding a 174" boosted Polaris for a few years now. Wouldn't ever go back to a 163. I ride trees and do some chutes. It feels no different then the 163 in the trees Plus you can slow things down and pick lines more easily. You'll find yourself helping friends out more and them helping you out less!

I got to ride the 174 yesterday and it is so sweet! I ride a 2014 154 and it does not feel all that much longer. Lot of tree riding and with that track you can pick lines slower. Kinda makes you look a lot better then you are! My sled is a trenching mother! This thing you could feel you were on top of the snow! And so much traction. The color is real bright in person to.

Where did you ride the 174 and what were the snow conditions like? Was it maneuverable enough to switch from a 154 to 174? That is what I am trying to answer... Go to 163 or 174 from 154... Great to hear you liked it. Overall, I think Doo did a great job on the '15 sleds.

Ha ha---No--it was black ya gomer!:face-icon-small-win

Problem with this is they say you cannot do electric start--no place for the battery---so my brp mastertech is seeing what he can do...
if I am spending this type of cash--electric start is on top of the list for me,
