I just powder coated my spindles on my pro and would like to match the shock springs as well. Does anyone have any experience changing the color and the best way to do it? paint, sand blast/powder coat, buy new color??

Wash them.

Sand them to remove the gloss (or sandblast lightly if you have a blaster)

Wipe with wax/grease remover or acetone.

make a hook with a coat hanger so you can hang the springs while painting

Paint with POR-15 using a brush.

This stuff is as durable as any powdercoat that I've had done.
You must prep the springs for the paint though... ANY coating (paint or p-coat) is only as good as the prep work.

You'll only need a pint.

Don't worry about the UV protection... you wont have a problem on your sled unless you leave it out in the sun all summer without a cover.

NO need to topcoat on a snowmobile in my experience.

If you springs still have good paint on them they will powder right over the top of the paint, and it holds up great. We do many sets with no problem.
