I have read alot of threads about putting the 2.6pc on the older m sleds and understand that it fits with no modifications necessary. However, Im wondering if clutch/gear changes need to be made for the extra load of snow that this track can move over the stock track on my sled. Currently, my sled tachs right around 7800rpm at 9500 feet. I am going to lighten up the clutch weights a little to get to 8000rpm, as this is what everyone I ride and wrench with recommends. Is it necessary to go even lighter to compensate for the 2.6pc when I get it on this fall?

put it on first- see what you are getting with your setup

then adjust accordingly.

I recommend getting 55/65 and leave your clutching alone .07 M8 likes 7800.
Also your 07 will gear/rpm out at about 90mph FYI

Thanks for the info. Ill keep her at 7800 then. Everyone I ride with has a polaris or skidoo so that where the 8000 came from. I wonder if it has lower gears in it already because 75mph is right at 8100rpm on the trail. And I'm talking a 2 mile straight so there is no need to lift and time to get cranked all the way up.

2.6 Powerclaw on M6

I put a 2.6 Powerclaw on my 2006 Big Bore 800, but after a cylinder burn-down I returned the sled to the original 600 cc pistons/cylinders along with the stock 63 gm clutch weights. Kept the 2.6 PC. It has absolutely no problem spinning that track - Tachs out at maybe 7700 or slightly higher where I ride @ 7000-10000 ft. Fits good, runs great, floats and climbs great and that sled is so fun now. So a 700 cc sled should have no issues.

Thanks for the info guys. Im gonna get that track on over the summer and see where things go next winter.

Anyone ever see any 2.6pc's for less than country cat sells? I think they are at 760 for a 153. Not a bad price but it never hurts to check around.
