go a 01 mxz 800 took for a rip on weekend started like normal 3 pulls and went maybe 200 yards and it was like someone hit the kill switch any idea were to start

Sounds like a bad stator as previously stated! I had the same thing happen and good luck getting one..I had to call all over the country.
I had the same sled, did the same thing and was the stator. except mine was 35 miles and 3 mountain ranges from the truck. pulled the motor and took it to the dealer, he changed the stator and we went back the next day and rode 'er out. mechanic said it was common on that year of 800 Doo that had an aftermarket can, it was 3 years old at the time.
