New here, was up on the Burgess road Sunday. not much (maybe 10-12") but looked like a few guys were riding the shoulders of the road and a few brave ones were testing the open areas. My guess would be those who got new sleds were testing them out. :) . I will be going through the Big Horns tomorrow night on the South side and the North side on sunday for thanksgiving. Will update when I get home sunday evening

Nothing to new up on the North side. Met a few sleds on trailers heading down, appears they are still riding the shoulders of the roads. it was too dark by the time I turned off at Burgess to continue my way home to say what that part was like.

Here is a quick photo, did a little ride this morning 11/29/16 after lasts night snowfall. There is a small base (need more) but its start to shape up nicely. This was taken at 8200 feet, close to Elk View Inn and Bear Lodge.

Went for a couple hour ride down by granite pass today. More than I expected, but still pretty thin. You could feel every rock and frozen gopher mound. Hopefully some storms will start rolling through!

got an update today from a rider up there, snow is starting to stack up. Its been cold! They went for a ride two days ago, snow was up on hoods in the back of Willow creek (Burgess Junction area) and base is starting to develop more, but still needs more base. A couple of good snows will really help it. Snow is in the forecast.

Was up yesterday and i think we are behind for this time of year. Rode north of bear lodge and looped back around to 14a by fiberglass hill. Wind blew all day and the top of every hill is almost wind blown bare. I'd say the depth of the snow is 2-3 feet in the very good spots, but those are few and far between. 1-2 feet is a better estimate of the depth over the whole area I seen. Snow did seem to get a little deeper once we got further west but not much. My buddy set off this small slide on a hill with less than 2 feet of snow. Good indication that the snow is very unstable due to wind loading and sugar snow base. I didn't find much of a base anywhere and we were lucky not to have broken anything. There's still a lot of sagebrush showing, needs a couple more storms before I would consider it "good to go"

Southern horns- Meadowlark?

Haven't heard any news on the southern horns. Anything worth riding? How are the lodges running this year? We really enjoyed it two years ago on the south side, wish it was worth the trip from eastern SD. Thanks for some local info.
