who has run Both? {i think winterbrew has}
looking for opinions on what to do with my 08 Summit' i am guessing the 860 will have better track speed for climbing and the new summit will handle better.

My RKTech 860 kit ran like a raped ape, loved it. but the etek is no slouch either. I prefer the smoother power of the new etek, so this is why I went this route. Way too many issues with my 2008 XP that it made sense just to upgrade. the rear skid sucked in comparison and after updating suspension and all the other things need to improve the sled to the 10 specs it was cheaper to bail on the 08 and get the etek.

Well since the rear supsension update to 2010 version is fairly cheap I would go with an 860, especially since the 800 e-tec is a new motor....remember the 07 800R??????

I know of an 860 from a reliable builder that was dynoed last week against an etec and the 860 showed only 6hp more.

I rode with an etec last weekend and I have rode with several 860's in the past. I think the etec is the way to go.

Glad I'm not the only one....I hope it goes away after break-in. Feet and hands numb! Runs strong for sure.

Did your sled always vibrate or did it start on its own after a few miles?

it always vibrated, and the other etec with us yesterday, viberated even worse, and he never touched his sled since he picked it up

my 885 yesterday ran smother than both the etecs and 860, might be in primary config

What pipe would you go with if you went with SHR860? Better to go with twins to really get the most out of the 860

LSB>>rob - you ride the etec already? - is it really "that good"

Its a very good out of the box snowmobile. The only thing I have done to it has been venting and some quick clickers, oh and HID's. The stock clutching seems to work fairly well. Once I get 100 more miles or so on it Ill worry about MAYBE tweaking with that. Right now Im not seeing much of a need to, on mine at least.

The vibration issue?? I don't know? I thought they all kind of vibrated around idle. Once I'm on the throttle its all smooth.

Its a great chassis, seems to be great motor. Has a little different sound and feel to it than the 2 strokes I have been used to. I dont think anyone should be disappointed by riding one of these.

Im coming off the 999 which had more power but I don't miss it. Being able to just hop on and go is great.

Humm mine shakes the bars a little at idle but riding it I found it smoother than my 09. I wonder if the vibration dampners on the steering were installed at the factory or there is a balance issue. Did you try putting the primary from your BB on your etec?
