Lots of snow left!

Rode for a couple hours yesterday mid morning. Snowing to beat the band made for some rough vision but it was soft and fresh! Took my wife and boys up to Lake Marie and I would guess about 10" of fresh.

They are cutting the road in but still easy to navigate around.

Get some!

Feeling very snow depressed and itching to ride. Anyone from the Minnesota area want to go to the snowys over Memorial weekend? Curious if its worth the trip as I have never rode spring conditions or this late in the year. PM if interested

Based on snotel data, and how this spring has been, Memorial weekend should be just fine for riding. The highway should be "plowed" (cut open). I'm sure I'll ride sooner than later and will post my findings. Looks gorgeous up there today, from Laramie.

Would like to get a "sunburn" ride in yet this year. Don't know if we can make it before the Snowies get closed.

What are the rules for the Madres? Is there places to pull of and unload once the road is open?

What are the rules for the snowies? And also curious about the madres. Wish Cooke was still gonna have snow in a few weeks that would make things easy.

And to answer the above question, yes its totally worth going out and riding this time of year. Tons of fun to be had especially if there is steep terrain where your at. Had some great riding last year, but my late May trip to Cooke was definitely the highlight of the season.

No off trail riding begins June 1st in Snowies. You can ride roads year round, snow or not, if you want to. The other part of that rule is do not ride on bare ground (unless on a road), with a minimum snow depth of 12" required. This 12" rule is just to prevent resource damage, if you ride over 10" of snow but aren't ripping through it to the ground they're not looking to ticket you.
I'm not certain of the Madres, but I think they're managed by the same office and have the same dates in place.

Went out yesterday, unloaded at green rock, it was a bit thin in spots from there to Brooklyn Lake Rd. Highway plowing is well under way. Not sure how far they've made it but at least through Libby Flats. Up higher its in good shape. We had lots of fun. Little different than the May 1st ride though (last picture).

Anyone been up there recently? I wanna go camping.

We went up last Friday and came home Sunday. We went up to the area west of Rob Roy. The main road was clear of snow except for a small amount right where you get to Rob Roy. That was mostly gone by Sunday and is probably all gone by now.

There is still some snow in the trees and a few of the FS roads had some snow on them - but everything down in that area is good to go. They opened up the gate to the Rob Roy boat ramp late last week.

Lots of moose running around obviously some with calves - so watch for that.

Rob Roy is plumb full and was still running over the spillway.
