Midwest Extreme Snowmobile Challenge Lutsen, MN April 18-19, 2015

It has been a rough winter and Red Bull had tried to move the location of Snow Boundaries to another venue but Mother Nature proved them who is in charge so they had to pull the plug...

“We are very sorry to announce that the Red Bull Snow Boundaries event has been cancelled. Representatives of the event flew to Big Powderhorn yesterday to take a look at snow conditions on and around the proposed event track. The last week of above freezing temperatures both day and night, coupled with a day of rain, has resulted in a significant loss of snow base on the proposed event course. Efforts to re-route the course would not result in a course sufficient enough in length or difficulty to hold an event of this caliber.

We sincerely thank the event organizers for considering Big Powderhorn for this event. We are pleased to have made some new friends while working with them and look forward to working with them again, perhaps on another event at Big Powderhorn in the future.

Thanks to all of our guests and Facebook friends for understanding the need to cancel the event.

With that, Cor PowerSports has the Midwest Extreme Snowmobile Challenge in 28 days at Lutsen Mountain Ski Resort!! Cross Country, Hillcross, & Hillclimb racing over 2 days!!

Lutsen staff earlier this week sent the following message over to the Cor PowerSports office:

"Temperatures spiked to a record 70 degrees in the Twin Cities, yet a few hours north and a world away we have ideal conditions for spring ski vacations. Highs near 40 and below freezing temps every night will bring us into April. With a base of 2’ to 4’ and plenty of snow stashed in reserve, daily operations through April 12th should be a breeze with a possibility for a few weekends beyond that."

Nick Gustafson is the course designer for the Hillclimb races, Matt Tingstad & Kurt Bauerly are teaming up to design the Hillcross course,& owner of Cor PowerSports Todd Myers is overseeing the layout of the cross country race course. Even the long time voice of snocross announcer Dean Norrell is coming out of retirement for this one and will be in charge of all the announcement duties!

Don't miss your chance to be part of one of the biggest and coolest spring snowmobile events in the Midwest!! Entries are limited to 20 people per class and spectator sales are also limited SO DO NOT DELAY!!

Timbersled Demo's at Lutsen!

With the Midwest Extreme Snowmobile Challenge only 23 days away the excitement is building! Plaques have been designed, rooms have been booked, and now we all just wait patiently for race day to roll around!!

The Lutsen Mountain crew put in thousands of man hours making snow and preparing the hills in anticipation for our event. Mother nature gave them some help with a couple inches of new snow this week and along with the cold temperatures snow loss has been minimal. There has been some burn off on some feeder trails we wanted to try and use for the cross country portion of the event but we will now keep the course on the main portion of Moose Mountain.

Last night we reached an agreement with Timbersled and they will have some of their Snow Bike's on hand at the event as demo's for anyone wanting to try one of these machines out! Rider's for the demo's must be 18 or older.

Don't miss your chance to be part of one of the biggest and coolest spring snowmobile events in the Midwest and now you can demo a Timbersled Snowbike as well!!

If you still want to get in we have openings in a handful of classes, get signed up today at http://corpowersports.com/schedule/MESC/

Snow conditions update!

For those questioning snow conditions at Lutsen Mountain here are the weekly pics and update that we received yesterday morning:

Received 3” of new snow on Sunday. Groomed in and froze over night. Brilliantly sunny and mid 40’s yesterday – possibly the best ski day of the year so far. Amazing corn snow in the morning, soft moguls in afternoon. Forecast looking great through the week for a replay

The first annual Midwest Extreme Snowmobile Challenge is going to be an awesome weekend!! Racing all day and live bands every night in the Papa Charlie's restaurant!!

We already have some of the best Midwest Pro racer's signed up; guys who competed at Winter X in hillcross, top cross country pro drivers, and the best hillclimb racer's in the area!

Don't delay as the registration deadline of April 10th is rapidly approaching, get signed up today at www.corpowersports.com

With 15 days to go before the first annual Midwest Extreme Snowmobile Challenge presented by Rox Speed FX everyone is closely watching the extended weather forecast.

With the 2-4’ base of snow on Moose Mountain, snow set aside in reserve from 5 months of making snow, and temps with lows still in the 20’s at night snow loss has been minimal in the areas that the Hillcross and Hillclimb race courses will be running. The cross country course has been forced to be re-routed due to low snow on the feeder trails that the Lutsen Mountain staff cannot get man made to. With the new course layout we will keep the course on the main portion of Moose Mountain and length will be 4-5 miles in length.

Late addition was the Timbersled demo team, they will be on site showing off their latest and greatest snowbike conversions as well as doing a couple demo races on the same courses as the snowmobiles. Then they will open up to our racers to take the bikes on a demo ride on a designated course, this demo is not open to the spectators but only our racers and crew members!!

Rider entries are limited to 20 riders per class and a handful of classes are near full but there is still some openings, with the registration closing in we fully expect to see a large number of entries in this last week.

Registration closes at the end of the business day April 10, 2015 so that leaves you one more week to get in on one of the biggest spring snowmobile events in the Midwest this year!!

ALL drivers must pre-register by April 10 online at http://corpowersports.com/schedule/MESC/
