Storm the 18th put out some good riding… deep back in the trees with a decent base.

HELP, Tough Decision To Make.

coming out feb 2-6. forecast looks like crap, warm and minimal new snow. our group has the pre-season package with a guide since none of us have been to tog before. are we better off pulling the plug and losing $250 per person (deposit) or come and spend $1200 per person for marginal conditions at best? i get it is better than work but pretty pricey for warm and hard tracked up snow.....what do you guys think? with a guide, are we still going to find some good snow somewhere?

0 miles on the sled in MN thus far. one of the worst winters for snow I have seen here in a long time.

ryan you would be a dumb not to go out. All it takes is one dump and game on.
With no snow in mn or the midwest except for the UP, to loss $250 does not
make since. If you have a guide they can always find sweet spots.
You may have to ride a little farther, but it beats mn NO snow.
Thats what sucks in making vaca plans, you are at the will of the weather.
If your that worried give the guide a call, theyll tell u the truth.

^^^ what he said, if noting else you will be able to go places you normally can't and find new areas. Plus you have no worries and you can drink beer if you don't like the riding and sit in the hot tub.

...

I would still go, as others have said a guide will be able to find snow in most conditions. MN winter does suck this year, 3 miles on my new AXYS Switchback.

Where the Buffalo roam
There is snow !!! Was amazed at areas left untouched, went up top to the divide.
Yes the highways are there and tracked.
It was not 6'deep everywhere but good .. less crowded.
Major meadows had open lines for fresh tracks.
Yeah the " highmarkers " will beat anything within a 100 yards off the trail.!!??
Go further and into the trees boondock a little...
Get a guide!!

Just got back from Crooked Creek and we had no problem finding good stuff just got to be willing to dig in a ways. We found a lot of great untouched areas with no guide and a great sense of adventure!

The temperatures have been low enough where the TML guide will be able to place you in some good spots. It's not an epic year but there is plenty of fun to be had in the trees and drainages. Nobody can reliably forecast a week out anyway, look what the NWS did for New York!

Headed out from Eastern SD Wednesday-Sunday. Just curious if anyone has been up top lately. It looks like they are getting hit. Any significant amounts?

There was a few inches of fresh snow yesterday (3-4 inches maybe). Still pretty tough to find fresh snow. But it's out there. Haven't been up yet today but when we left to come back into Jackson it was starting to snow.

They got another 5" overnight. And it's been snowin all day. We found some snow that was close to over the good. Not quite. Nuts it's definitely getting better out there.
