I am pretty much at the point I don't give a damn where vehicles are made. I'm buying the one I want, period. With that said, the 2012 Dodge 3500 I have is the first pickup I've ever owned that wasn't a General Motors truck, and I have to say I've really gotten to like it. If Toyota started making diesel trucks on par with the Big 3's 2500/3500 trucks, I'd sure consider one.
I'm a little more of a hypocrite. I could easily own a Porshe, BMW, Nissan (GTR!) and I've owned an Acura. But for some reason I don't think I could do a Toyota truck. I know they are getting better but they used to have a terrible interior.
Yeah I could drive a "yota and do..broken foreign cars/trucks bought me a lot of domestics !!

Really? Best seller! yeah they can be improved or not depending on use the one above (1st pg) was built with LS power etc etc etc but...23 mpg HIGWAY.
Beats the hell out of 14 and the interior is now better than anything offered by any OEM in '15 and ground clearance..!

GM hasn't had a full year of their truck or Corvette being released. Both are limited supply currently. Chevy has increased the price of the Corvette already and they still cannot slow down demand, many dealers are getting $20,000 over MSRP for them.

Because they are basically Pre-calling vehicles before they are sold. They are fixing vehicles that haven't been sold yet. Those vehicles are what is called the 100 day supply.

Everyone is recalling vehicles. It's an overreaction in my opinion. Unless they are blowing up or driving off the road (ummmm.....exploder!), you just take your vehicle in for a part change. I don't like it, but all the big manufacturers deal with it because of volume.
I think you can call 2014, the year of the recall. After Toyota's fine and penalties, manufactures are scared $hitless. Manufactures have decided to recall anything that has potential of a lawsuit. The consumer is about to pay for this just like you pay for your doctors malpractice insurance.
Apparently they aren't scared enough.... I was notified of a recall on my 12' Ram in December, I was told to call the dealer in January, and I was "put on a list". Well, 4 months later, I call them "Oh we're still waiting on parts". So I am assuming this recall really isn't that big of deal any more than the one about the Ford Escapes randomly catching fire, etc.

I'm not really familiar with the the ford escapes randomly catching fire but the article I read says 2014 silverados are randomly catching fire I think it only pertains to the 4.3l and 5.3l haven't read anything stating the 6.2l are affected by this recall
I believe this was a power steering line or transmission line that was rubbing the wrong way. They basically re-route the line and put a rub guard on it and it is corrected. About a 5 minute fix.
They don't really need to have a fix, they need to "show" that they are concerned enough to issue a recall. They can claim they are working on a fix from this point forward.
Even if they have a fix, it can take a long time to get the parts manufactured for they have to produce one for almost every vehicle they sold prior to this and the entire unsold inventory. That's a lot of parts.

DETROIT -- General Motors is recalling 303,000 of its redesigned 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickup trucks in the United States to fix a software glitch that could lead to engine compartment fires.
GM said it has confirmed eight fires, including three customer-owned vehicles, and that no injuries have been reported. The fires occurred in areas with "very cold weather," GM said.
Four of the fires occurred in trucks that were at GM dealerships and one was in a GM-owned vehicle.
GM is urging owners of the 2014 models to avoid leaving their trucks idling while unattended.
The problem occurs in pickups with 4.3-liter and 5.3-liter V-8 engines. Trucks with the 6.2-liter V-8 engine are not affected.
GM said it is contacting customers to alert them of the problem, which often is signaled by a yellow "check engine light" and an "engine power reduced" message in the instrument panel.
The software problem could lead to overheating of exhaust components, potentially causing engine compartment fires, GM said.

All I know is that my 3 company Ford F-150's all have a "Made in Mexico" sticker on the doors.
I drive a American made Dodge truck and a Canadian made Chrysler car.
My Yamaha and Arctic-Cat sleds made in America and Japan, Ski-Doo made in Canada and Austria. My Rzr and Ranger's are made in Mexico and the US, and my Sea-Doo's in Austria and Mexico.
My Mercury outboard is made in America and my Honda kicker is made in Japan. So are my generators, lawnmower and the motor off my pressure washer.
American Honda, Honda Canada, Yamaha Canada and Yamaha USA keep "our" money where they belong. Paying for the employees that keep those companies running. This notion of "our" money getting sent back to the motherland is outlandish. Get yer heads outta yer asses. Even BRP has a US subsidiary.
Now let's keep any facts out of this thread. Because it's obvious most of us only look at the facts we want to see.
