04 700 runs rough

ok so i just picked up a coupe vertical escapes. 800 works great, the 700 runs terrible. heres what we checked so far:
carbs (cleaned and even swapped with known good ones)
crank seals
spark plugs
swapped coils
checked fuel pump
swapped temp sensor and det sensor
checked pulse line to pump
checked stator and flywheel
removed exhaust/checked for restrictions
it has a slp high flow airbox, other than that its stock.
it seems to run on one cylinder at idle and low but both at WOT
compression is 125 on both
fresh gas of course
cleaned carbs
cleaned exhaust valves
gonna try ecu swap with another sled (800 will work i assume?)

Check the rubber boots real closely at the VES valves. They crack and leak. Chech the VES valves for wear. Check the VES springs for equal stiffness. Check the VES gaskets for cracks or tears.

Make sure both needles are in the same position and that they are locked in place.

The ECU's go out, so you would want to swap with a known working unit.

You do need new rings because you should be at 145 PSI compression.

Check for broken/damaged reed pedals.

You say it runs terrible describe it Is it better when Cold Or warmed up? does it run real gurgally mainly mid range and up?If you put the coke onpartially does that help it.

Reeds look fine, no chipping and not tweaked. it runs ****ty all the time hot or cold like running on one cylinder but the spark is always good. like the timing is off? exhaust valves fine, carbs fine.

choke does not help at all nor does spaying carb cleaner thru carb while running

Can you ID which cylinder isn't hitting? Try switching the plug wires and see if the problem follows?

If you turn the clutch back and forth is there any clunking or delay of moovment watch the fly wheel through the hole over the mag side while doing it.

Disconnect the High beam switch, and see if that helps. They go out and cause the engine to run very rough.

found the problem boys!!! pto crank seal was ripped along bottom side. noticed after shutting of exhaust smoke was coming from seal! pulled primary and it was majorly torn and started it up with no clutch on and it was blowing out like crazy. replaced seal and it runs great

Sounds like a close call! Glad you found it before melting a piston or losing oil and wrecking a crank bearing.
