Look at the TML webcam, I gauge it by how much is piled on the lodge and the vehicles parked outside. Or look at WYDOTs Wind River Lake webcam. Those are two good indicators of actual snow conditions.

There really isn't any others in real close proximity to the riding area as far as I've been able to tell.

Trying to plan a trip and would like to know where the best place to go. Seems to be Togwotee or West of Pinedale. I am willing to travel anywhere in Wyoming, Colorado or Montana. Driving from South Dakota. Any suggestions please let me know!!!

I'm here now too brandonh. Snow is hit and miss depending upon location. Most of it is soft tho. I figured it would all be setup. Sage brush poking out in some places. 3-4 feet in others. I have yet to get stuck, but it's good "break in" miles. Lots of land mines out there yet.

Bocephus' description is accurate if you dont stray far from the lodge....I should have been more descriptive.

For clarification, I've been going about 8 miles out near the Divide, between 9-10k and mostly in the trees, where I have been measuring 4-6 feet all week. Down trees and such are "almost" covered up....this next storm should do it.

*FYI- the Doo in the photo was the new 174 3" ... and it got stuck.

Where is the best place to ride in the Togwotee area?

Ok loaded question and I am not asking for any personal honey holes but where in general is the best areas to ride? I stayed at the Line Shack two years ago and only rode in that area and we found some good spots. Were looking at going up closer to the lodge / divide but never been there and hoping I can find someone to give me some ideas as to where to ride. I have the map pulled up so if you could give me some direction from the trail map that would be best. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!!!!

Tog is such an expansive riding area that getting advice on the best areas may be tough to get. If I were you, (and I plan on doing the same) I'd rent a guide. I've heard nothing but good things about the guide service at Tog. They're a professional group.

You really can't go wrong even close to the lodge to be honest.

The guides at Togwotee are great. Lefty and Noah were some of the best guys to have in my experience. I wouldnt ride there without one. Never saw the same tracks twice, they always know a spot that is untouched.........

Once you have been there a few times, then maybe go unguided.

Tips are for a great job going above and beyond just escorting you around. Which is all they would "have" to do. If they are showing you new stuff, pulling your ski, friendly and there to make sure your having a good time. That deserves a cash tip.

I agree 100%. We have ridden with Carter a few times and he always find untouched snow. He is always willing to help you out to become a better rider also.
