Coming to St. Francis, MN January 10, 2015

These skills are an important part of being a mountain rider. You can save a life.

If you have taken my classroom session, the Saturday on the snow rescue class is your next step.

On the Snow Avalanche Transceiver and Rescue Class.

Two sessions available.
Time:
9am-noon or 1pm-4pm. Saturday January 10, 2015

Learn: To find a beacon in under two minutes, search efficiently for multiple beacons, probe for a victim, search techniques, lead and execute a fast rescue.
Course content:
Beacons
o Walk by test. New method.
o Search patterns.
o Transceiver functions.
o Working as a team.
o Accurate pinpointing.
o Effective shoveling.
o Common mistakes in beacon searches.
o Single and multiple burials.
Probing.
o Finding someone without a beacon
o Effective probing and pinpointing deep burials
o Probe line.
Rescue techniques.
o It not just looking at a beacon.
o Analyzing the avalanche and finding the most likely burial point.
o Coordination and step by step procedures for a fast rescue.
o Leadership and team work.
o Mistakes in rescue.
Rescue scenarios.
o Group timed rescue.
o Find victims with and without beacons.


Additional Details:
Dress warm and bring your avalanche gear if you have it.
We are outside for 3 hours straight and I have never canceled a class due to weather. Club house to warm up in. BBQ provided.
Hat, 2 pairs gloves, snowmobile boots, layers, face mask, sunscreen, goggles,
Beacon, shovel and probe if you have them. Otherwise, I will supply.


Prerequisite: Avalanche Awareness, Avoidance and Rescue classroom session.

Limited space: Only 10 people per session.

Take the class with your riding partners.
