Looking to pick up a first Gen M8, something around 2008-10 I hear the 2012 proclimb is junk, and anything newer isn't in the budget. Just wanted to ask what is the best year, what issues to look out for, diamond drives ect. Also, I would like to get a turbo sled, how do these hold up? I've heard the Suzuki's are tough and handle boost really well. Let me know what the best would be. Also, not opposed to an M1000 since their pretty cheap these days too.

Currently looking at an '07 M8 162" With twisted pump gas setup. Thoughts anyone? I've read good things about the twisted setup and the machine has 3000km on it.

Tunnel ?

Is the tunnel the stock 07 or has it been changed to the 09 or aftermarket. Huge difference, also electronic reverse on the 09 and newer sleds 10+ lbs lighter on the 09 tunnel and revers alone.

Looks like it's stock tunnel with VE extension, haven't called the owner yet. Don't know if it has reverse. Electronic reverse can't be added to the older ones can it?

VE tunnel takes care of the snow evacuation problem the tunnel had(loaded up with snow along the edges). Yes I think its possible to convert but expensive (ECU and Diamond drive replacement) I think its possible though.

the 09 m8 is 30 lbs lighter than the 07

09 was 1st year of the powerclaw, and the electronic reverse, and new lighter rails.

Might try to find an '09 then, I can always pick up a used turbo kit and put it on at a later date. If I get an older one, I'll probably upgrade the skid, maybe tunnel, depends what deal I can find.

I would personally hold out for a 10+ if you are going with the M series for several reasons.

1. 800 H.O. Engine
2. The tunnel is already setup how you want it which means no $$$ on swapping it out.
3. 2.25 PowerClaw
4. The 10 and 11 are the most dialed in M sled out of the box. They straight up WORK.

If you are just now in the market for a sled, their should be a flood of sleds here in the next month or so with guys spring checking sleds etc. If you manage to get a nice 10 or 11 for around 5-6K, throw an SLP performance kit in it and be done. Not that a turbo with 3000km is a bad thing, but at some point the turbo's going to be need gone through.

Not sure about in canada but here in the states 09,10, and some 11s are 3500/5500 dollars some with less that 1000 miles on them 09 has the good tunnel , pc track and electronic reverse and a great sled to turbo. the reason i say turbo is only because you mentioned it. that said ive seen plenty of m8 turbos in the 4/6000 range but not sure how there set up runs. its a buyers market out there. here there selling brand new hold over 2013 cats for 7700 with 1 year warranty. buyers market.

Cool, thanks. It's a buyers market up here as well. New '15's are selling for $9500 at some dealers. Some guys are still asking !
$10k for their '13's with 3000 miles on them, but obviously aren't selling them. I am seeing really good deals on the first gen M-series. 2010 M8 with a boondocker turbo for $5250, couple M1000's with turbo's in the 5-6k range. 350 used M8's for sale on Alberta kijiji right now, crazy!

I have considered selling my 2010 that has all the goodies and only 1,200 miles but I would have to give it away so it sits in the garage. If you look you can steal a good one.

Yeah, there's deals out there for sure. Do you have a 1000 or 800? I'm seeing a lot of really good prices on the 1000s's since their less popular. I'm not worried about the few extra pounds of a 1000 if it makes good power.

Yeah, few machines will climb like the Yami turbo's. Their just too much of a tank for me though, need something lighter. I'm not able to make it into some of the area's their getting into, I need something a little better than my old mm

Picked up a '10 M8 with a CPC turbo this weekend, needs a diamond drive, I'll tear it apart and see what's wrong with it. Hope to get it out for a ride this year, this things sweet!
