As our season winds down we wanted to do a recap and give a shout out to those who have have helped make our Ice Age Performance shop sled what it is today.
We spend a lot of our lives around sleds and it had been a few years since anyone had even rode a turbo two stroke. Last time anyone had, it was a few years back and although the top end was killer, the drive ability was sub-par with lots of gurgling and farting on the bottom end. Nothing you wanted to do much besides rip wheelies on open hills with. Since a few years had passed and the industry had evolved, we figured we would give it a go on the shop sled!
We talked to Justin and James @ Silber Turbos, told them what we were up to and got us setup with a brand new kit running a Bulldog setup for fueling. We got it put on for the shows, the setup is easy to install, clean and well thought out. Being in the industry, sadly, it took until almost Febuary until things slowed down and allowed us to go riding it. We set ours up running 7psi of boost on pump gas with a splash of Klotz HiTrate in ever tank. The initial mapping had a few tiny holes in it, but overall, the sled performed amazingly. Clutching worked great, power was smooth, pulled hard, and was very enjoyable from climbs to boon docking, even some small drops.
We had a few down weeks due to issues with the sled itself, and while it was down Justin updated us to the most current ECU mapping. We managed to get the sled out for a few more spring rides and all anyone who rode it could say was “WOW”. The sled runs insanely clean. Throttle response felt better than our stock RMK, power was impressive, and overall drive ability was truly impressive.
We also spent the last few rides testing out the new external wastegate setup that will be available for next year. All we can say is, for those who want the next level of performance above standard kits, it delivers. The fuel mapping coupled with the external gate setup provides even better throttle response, more power on lower boost and more stable boost control.
