Mark,

A 1 1/4" 136" works great on those older Phazer's. Big enough so that they get around pretty good, but not so big that it doesn't over load the stock fan cooled twin.
You can still use the stock 8 tooth driver's with a 1/14" in most cases also. Any taller and you'll swap out to 7 tooth drivers.

I believe that Hartman is still selling rail/tunnel extensions for the older Phazers.

ski resistance is a bigger problem, our kids would often spin in circles because of the old steel ski drag. Newer plastic skis and they now trench a lot less.

what type of skis did you put on?

the one i have has plastic skins
the other one is missing a skin

should i just replace skins with all plastic skis or find another set of skins for the second sled

thank you

skins will set ya back bout $40-$60 depending, plastic skies you can pick up used bout $100-$150 and tunnel extention use anything and rivet it together, and rail extention either a generic or and almost any 133 or 136 track no taller than 1" will do for the kids
i have a couple of those tracks, could sell for cheap

factory track is 116 on the 89, 121 on the 90 if your years are correct, the 90 is a phazer 2 right? you can put a 121 cheap used track off somethin, shorty rail extensions from WPS, and dont bother with the tunnel extension on the 89. just hammer the flap mount back a little. lot less time than extending the tunnel and about the same performance. id get plastic skis too, the steel are heavy and hold the sled back in potential. if its clutched right for stock, just wind the sec. spring up a notch or two with the new track.

I put a set of plastic Mountain Max skis on with USI brackets and swapped the track to 1 1/8" 136 off a newer Mountain Max. Old sled would go nearly anywhere. I had a 90 Phazer I put an Arctic Cat Z/R track on and kept the 121" length, it too was a real goer.

Just finished putting a 136 x1.25 track on the grandkids 1991 Phaser 2. Used the stock drivers . Giong to try it out this weekend if all goes well. Last year I changed out the stock pos skis for artic cat mountain skis. They work great and was a easy install. Track and skis should make a great kids sled. My sled came with a factory 136" track. Hope this helps and what a great kids sled.

I have a few 84 phazers with the 116. I want to put a 121 with around a 1" lug. Do I just do a suspension set back and down? Anybody have the measurements? Any reason to go little longer like 133 - 136 with rail extensions and tunnel? Just kids sleds they are 8 and 11 now. Just need a little more for powder.

Anybody have a few 121 1- 1.25 lugs in decent shape for cheap close by, I am in Greeley Co.

Very common mod was moving the skid back 2.5" to run a 121". To go to 136 extensions will work. The stock Phazer 136" were 121" skids with factory extensions.

id like to try one with a setback, but wouldnt do it on a kids sled. increased ski pressure=no fun for lighter riders.

I have 12 phazers 84 thru 96 116 to 136 mt lite & 1 mod 136, 89!!! The 121's 1 1/4' w/ plastic ski and pipe & jets & gas shocks are the funnest in all @ conditions next to the 136 did I say conditions & or rider ability, kids or grand-kids are some of the funnest nimble Lightest sleds - travel but will be the best teacher for the dark side of the addiction to the new tecchnology, they have to afford themselves!! The 121's have HIGHMARKED the 136's all time in all out conititions, but the 136 has it's days hands down depending on CONDITIONS!!! & rider strength !!! Choose your FUNNN for the right EXPERIENCE & rider & YOU WILL create some Monsters:spider:!! Phazer ll seem to be younger freindly depending on abillity & set-up of machine??????? Hope this will help you decide because you do not want to be like me l<>l & KLAN !!!!!!:face-icon-small-coo
