Got to ride for the first time ever in Oregon this past weekend at Tollgate. The area seemed like it could have potential if there was 2 or 3 feet of fresh snow, but the snow was only about 3 1/2 feet deep and as hard as cement. Saturday (March 1) it snowed about 6" in the early morning up on top and then turned into a wicked rain about 7 a.m. and it rained the whole drive back. So just as an update, the snow on Tollgate is NOT very good for those of you who are interested.

You missed it by a week. Last weekend we were in about 20 inches of untracked fresh. This whole year has been, good one weekend the warm and rain the next 2 weekends.

If you want to stay on the mountain, there's ABC Retreat. But you'll have to trailer back and forth from the sno-parks. There's no gas on the mountain either, so you'll need to bring that. There's a store, but they don't have much of anything anymore. Best bet is stay in Elgin or Milton-Freewater.

Tollgate has lots to offer as in boondockin..

It cross our minds to ride Sunday, but after reading the weather and looking at the camera we passed, go thing from the sounds of it too.
