Do it yourself MSERIES intake

J
Pretty easy .

Bought a filter ,prefilter,hood vent,and a piece of aluminium .

Took under hood intake out .
Cut aluminum to fit and riveted my two tabs on
Installed filter and prefilter
Installed hood vent

have done this on a few sleds now and its works really well. Noticed a noticable power increase on a m1000 .
This particular sled is an 09 m8
Have done it to m7 as well.

Saves having to buy a $200 intake ....costed me 40 bucks to do

I did one similar on my M8, I removed all the snorkel piping, and installed the "bat wing" kit from Mo-flow with the center hole cover.

I like several things about it. While I wouldn't say I noticed any huge power gains, it defiantly seemed to clean up the bottom end. Also it makes that beautiful sno-cross sled sound...you know what intake bellowy sound. Defiantly worth it

I always thought you needed a fuel controller if you modified the intake on these sleds. Is this incorrect?

On the pre-HO motors, absolutely not....I had an 07 M8 with a full pipe kit, and intake and no controller running from the flatland of South Dakota to 11k in Colorado....

With just airbox mods you do not need to get a controller.
With a pipe I would get a controller!!
I know a few people that ran their piped sleds without them and they all eventually burned down.
They sure do sound nice once you get rid of the stock intake system and ya will lose a few pounds too!
