Winter Keeps Chuggin’ Along And We’re Not Complaining

News

Not only are we not complaining that winter keeps hanging around with new snowstorms, we say keep it coming.

We timed a ride last Thursday just right as we headed to the Utah high country with the guys from PowerHouse Motorsports to take advantage of a spring snowstorm that swept over the Wasatch Mountains.

We trailered up Big Cottonwood Canyon outside of Salt Lake City and then took Guardsman Road up to a small parking area. We unloaded, followed the road and baled off the road at Guardsman Pass.

We explored the drainages behind the ridges (actually a ridge away) where the Brighton Ski Resort is. The terrain is steep—and on the day we rode—a little slick as the few inches of new snow didn’t cover up the hardpack underneath that created a bit of a thrill when we descended hillsides. At one point we surpassed the 10,000-foot mark.

It was snowing hard when we unloaded but the sun eventually came out and allowed us to see the amazing terrain in this part of central Utah as well as the snow-covered landscape.

So as long as winter holds on, we’ll ride.
