What's New For Ski-Doo In 2014

News, Ski-Doo

REV-XS Platform Expanded

The striking style, improved wind protection, added storage, easier serviceability and more aggressive ergonomic of the REV-XS platform moves to several new models for 2014, including the the MX Z X-RS, MX Z TNT, Renegade Adrenaline, Renegade Backcountry, GSX LE and Expedition Sport sleds.

REV-XM Platform Expanded

The REV-XM platform and its mountain-specific features make their way to the 2014 Freeride sled and more Summit SP models. Also included are the revised Pilot DS 2 ski and ski spi8ndle combination for straight-tracking sidehilling.

tMotion rear suspension/FlexEdge track technology expanded

Fresh thinking in the mountain sled category makes powder riding easier on the Freeride 154, Freeride 146, Summit SP and Summit Sport models. tMotion suspension enables the rear suspension to flex laterally inside the tunnel and the outer two inches (5 cm) of the FlexEdge track bend; together they make carving and sidehilling easy and predictable.

Rotax ACE 900 engine with intelligent Throttle Control (iTC) technology

This is the next member of the advanced combustion efficiency (ACE) family of four-stroke engines. A triple-cylinder variant of the ACE 600 engine, the new ACE 900 mill achieves up to 23.3 mpg* (10 L/100km) while producing 90 horsepower in ECO mode. It also meets U.S. National Park Service Best Available Technology (ATC) requirements.

It is operated with the industry's first electronic throttle-by-wire technology-intelligent Throttle Control (iTC). iTC technology delivers new functionality and performance improvements to snowmobiles:

  • Three driving modes: Sport (quick acceleration and response), Standard, ECO (improved fuel economy and a more relaxed response)
  • Learning Key: Alternate D.E.S.S. (Digitally Encoded Security System) tether limits top speed and acceleration. Some options are dealer-programmable.

rMotion rear suspension expanded

Expansion of the rMotion skid brings the ultimate in control, capability, adjustability and comfort to additional segments. A 137-inch (3.4-cm) version accommodates GSX SE, GSX LE, Grand Touring SE and LE models.

Silent Drive System

BRP engineers took a fresh look at the drive system to significantly reduce noise, vibration and harshness. Silent Drive uses advanced 16-tooth internal drivers, longer rails and unique track designs to reduce sound to the riders that can be clearly noticed as well as reducing the vibration level by 70 percent compared to a typical sled. The system debuts on the Grand touring LE sled with ACE 900 engine.

Redesigned handlebar control

Sleds with the REV-XS platform sport a new left-hand control that is simpler and more intuitive to operate. On sleds with the multi-function gauge the control has backlit buttons and additional mode/set buttons.

Redesigned windshields

New designs add style and protection for the REV-XS based sleds in three sizes: 6 inches (15 cm), 15 inches (38 cm) and 18 inches (46 cm). Also available as accessories.

eDrive 2 expansion

The eDrive 2 drive pulley is equipped on all 4-TEC and ACE powerpacks for 2014.

LinQ accessories line grows

The BRP-exclusive LinQ system is a simple, fast, secure way to attach accessories on a sled tunnel. A saddlebag system joins the fuel caddy and storage bags in the LinQ line.

Gauge enhancements

Many 2014 models feature enhanced gauges to increase the information they convey and premium styling. All X models feature a digital gauge.

Gauges on models equipped with E-TEC engines and the premium gauge have an LCD display indicating the percentage of new engine break-in completed. LCD also indicates "OVER REV" when the sled is limiting the rpm to protect itself.

Standard on all REV-XS and REV-XM models is a new indicator for hand and thumb warmer intensity. The parking brake pilot light beeps and flashes if the brake is engaged for more than five seconds while driving.

2014 Ski-Doo Summit

2014 marks 20 years since the debut of the original Ski-Doo Summit snowmobile, recognized as the first sled from a manufacturer designed specifically for the unique character of mountain snowmobiling.

Then, BRP was touting the lightweight F-2000 chassis and mechanical High Altitude Compensator.

Today, we are talking about the BRP's very lightweight REV-XM platform. A tMotion rear suspension that flexes in the tunnel and FlexEdge track technology to ease roll-up. Body panels specifically sculpted to slide through powder. Mountain-specific ergonomics.

The original Summit sled was a 583-cc engine, followed by a limited 670-cc mill. For 2014, BRP again showcases its signature engine technology, E-TEC direct injection for unmatched performance, light weight and efficiency in 800 cc and 60  cc sizes. E-TEC engines even prepare themselves for summer storage.

With the precise, easy handling of the REV-XM platform and tMotion/FlexEdge technologies combined with the power and instant response of the Rotax E-TEC 800R engine, mountain sledders do not have to compromise anything. With the 2014 Ski-Doo Summit sled, they can have it all.

  • tMotion rear suspension for Summit Sport model

2014 Ski-Doo Freeride

For some riders, venturing off the beaten path is just not enough. They need to push it to the limit and do it in style. That's where the 2014 Ski-Doo Freeride sled comes in.

It's not just about going your own way off the trail or in the steep and deep, but going big. That's why BRP equipped the Freeride with stout KYB Pro-40 shocks all around.

The 2014 Freeride model is reborn on the REV-XM platform variation with new tMotion rear suspension for the 137 version. Its ergonomic package-from the running boards to the handlebar controls-is designed around the driver specifically for off-trail maneuvers and powder play. Its RS chassis, developed for snocross racing sleds, includes key reinforcements for taking big hits with ease.

Add in the Rotax E-TEC 800R engine and you have one of the most specialized snowmobiles for deep snow extreme riding the industry's ever seen.

With 154-, 146- and 137-inch track lengths available, there's a Freeride model for every riding style and terrain.

Knowing the Freeride crowd is more free-thinking, BRP gave the 2014 sled a contemporary coloration with a techy gray complemented by bright white and eye-popping manta green accents that make it stand out as it comes from the factory or make it an ideal base for radical wrap kits.

New for 2014:

  • Mountain-specific REV-XM platform variation
  • tMotion rear suspension on 146 and 154 models
  • rMotion rear suspension on the 137 model
  • FlexEdge track technology on 146 and 154 models
  • REV-XM mountain-specific ergonomics
  • White/gray/manta green coloration
