Hartman utilized 26 years of testing and found that ski-mounted scratchers work the best. The down pressure of the spring kicks ice and snow up in front of the hifax, lubing throughout and cooling the heat exchanger. This is superior to rail-mounted scratchers that only lube the back half of the suspension and risk damaging the track edge. It mounts to the spindle bolt thru the plastic ski bottom or thru the ski bucket.
